“Could not be delivered” notices

When Waribox can’t pass a message on, its sender is told within seconds.

How senders are told

Waribox refuses the message while it is being delivered, so the sender’s own mail server returns it with a short reason, like any undeliverable address. For the first six below, the account owner also gets an email, so you hear about problems too.

What each one means

  • “No one is currently set up to receive mail at this address, so your message was not delivered.” The pipe has no confirmed members. Add members, or ask them to open their confirmation email.
  • “Your message is over the 25 MB limit and was not delivered. Send it without large attachments, or share a link instead.” Messages over 25 MB are refused.
  • “This address is receiving too many messages right now and your message was not delivered. Please try again in a few minutes.” Often an automated system mailing the pipe in a burst.
  • “This team address is not active right now, so your message was not delivered. Please contact the team another way.” No trial or plan is active. See With no plan.
  • “This team address has reached its monthly limit, so your message was not delivered. Please try again later or contact the team another way.” The trial’s monthly deliveries, or this month’s shared trial budget, are used up. Choosing a plan lifts the stop.
  • “Your message could not be passed on to the team right now. Please try again later, or contact them another way.” A problem on our side. We are alerted automatically.
  • “Your message was not sent: your mail provider did not sign it (DKIM) as coming from your address, so Waribox could not confirm it was you. Send it again from your usual mail account.” Mail from a member’s address has to carry their mail provider’s DKIM signature, so nobody can pose as a teammate to your contacts. Gmail, Outlook, iCloud and most business mail sign every message.
  • “Your reply was not sent: … already replied to this conversation …” A member’s reply was held. See Hold duplicate replies.

What is never bounced

Auto-replies, mail loops and duplicates are dropped silently, so an out-of-office can’t bounce back and forth. They still appear in the activity log.
